Until now, all has been quiet regarding Sandra Beth Geisel... the notorious sex-teach should be getting out jail within a month or so: Beth Geisel has been officially sentenced. Albany County Judge Stephen W. Herrick blamed the CBA boys whom Beth Geisel had physical contact with for manipulating her lack of self-esteem and tendency toward alcohol abuse to get what they wanted from her.

Pointing to what he termed Geisel's "desperate need" for affection, Herrick said Geisel failed to realize she was being used for sex, and laughed at behind her back. The Times-Union reports that Albany County D-A David Soares was plenty sore about that: "It's pretty outrageous to characterize someone who was prosecuted by this office as anything other than a sexual offender. ... I don't understand why he accepted a plea in this case." (Translation: "WTF?")

Now, I do feel the need to comment on an absolutely ridiculous article by June Maxam that appeared October 31st in the North Country Gazette. This is something that's been on my "to-do" list, but I never got around to it--- 'til now.

"...We're curious why the Geisel case reached national media status with Albany County district attorney David Soares on the Today show and the CBS Early Show but that the (Lina) Sinha case, perhaps even more "sensational" than the Geisel case, has rated hardly a glance..."

HUH? "Sensational?" In what way? Duh... why don't you hunt down YOUR D-A and ask questions, Ms. Maxam?

"...Sandra "Beth" Geisel, 42, a former English teacher at CBA, was indicted by an Albany County grand jury in September with three counts of third degree rape and a count of performing a criminal sexual act in connection with alleged sexual encounters with a 16-year-old male student in May. There were no allegations of force. It's just that the law says that the consensual age for sex is 17.

She was accused of having sex with the 16-year-old three times---once at her Latham home, once at his Ravena home and once in the press box of the football stadium at the CBA campus..."

OKAY...

"...The case made national news, international news. It was featured on a controversial website---shows like A Current Affair were reportedly offering money to other CBA students to tell what they knew about Geisel and a bus trip to Florida for which she was one of the chaperones. TV cameras, still photographers jammed the entrances to the court and district attorney's office every time there was to be a conference or appearance in Geisel case. Consensual sex between a teacher and a minor in the backseat of a car and the press box of the football stadium became fodder for dinner table talk and the breakfast nook.

And now there's the case of Lina Sinha..."

And now THAT is where the author goes off the deep end... right from the get-go, the hot-blonde syndrome kicked in as the media jumped on the Geisel case. Everybody was anxious to take and share photographs. To this day, you can't FIND a photograph of the mysterious Sinha. I'm really surprised that the POST, Daily News, NYTimes, CBS, NBC, ABC, WB11, FOX5, couldn't ferret out a single stinkin' picture? Remember how NYC media treated Amy & Joey or Woody and Soon-Yi?

"...A police officer who is going to turn 23 in a few days has filed a complaint against Lina Sinha, 38, claiming that she had sex with him beginning when he had just graduated from eighth grade and she was a 29-year-old teacher at the Montessori School of New York on E. 55th St. that was started by her parents.

He's alleging that they had sex in a school van, inside the school and in a school-owned apartment, starting in 1996 when he was 13 and continuing for several years. He has apparently maintained some kind of relationship with her for the last 10 years, but apparently hasn't felt abused enough to file any complaint against her until she filed one against him.

She's been charged with second and third degree sodomy and third degree rape---statutory rape. As in the Geisel case, there are no charges that the alleged relationship was forced but minors under age 17 can't legally consent to sex..."

Uh, HELLO?? So what? At best this is old news, certainly nothing like a hot teacher spreading out for the guys in high school... and besides, it sounds kinda bogus anyway.
The author goes on suggest "...the press is being so quiet about the Sinha case because a cop is involved and because maybe, just maybe, Ms. Sinha is right, that an assault did occur? " Since when has the press ever bent over backwards to be kind to the police? The author also demands to know the name of the cop in the Sinha case... again I look to the unforgiving relentless NYC Media. If there's a story there at all, they'll snuff it out (the NY papers scooped the Albany papers in the Geisel case several times) and chew up and spit out Sinha and her cop-loverboy.

Now here's author June Maxam's 10-Million Dollar Question:
"So where's the public outcry in the Sinha case that there was in Geisel case? "
OVER WHAT, Ms. Maxam? We have the initial news report, we have zero photographs of either Sinha or her cop-loverboy, we have no follow-up and NO INTEREST. Is that clear?
Besides Beth Geisel continued making news by driving drunk, and then there's hubby KeyBank bigshot Thomas X. Geisel... like an F. Scott Fitzgerald novel, we have a bunch of wonderful interesting characters. In the Sinha case, there's nothing to report, Walter!

In a nutshell, there's no story to go after in the Sinha case: NOTHING to titillate! Now, keep an eye out for Sandra "Beth" Geisel... she'll be out of jail SOON!
