Prayer
Jim Morrison once wrote "you cannot petition the lord with prayer." Martin Luther once flipped out over the Catholic Church method of selling "indulgences" so that ANYONE could ensure a place in heaven. (The more $ the higher the place!)
Prayer and Religion have always been and will always be controversial topics.
Last night I read some interesting posts other bloggers wrote about religion (I'll get to those in a moment). This morning as I was driving back to Albany from the City, I noticed that talk radio was ablaze with talk about Religion.
Over in New Jersey, East Brunswick High football coach Marcus Borden is suing the district over banning him from leading or participating in pre-game prayers. Borden says the ban violates his constitutional rights. The coach quit last month after being told he could no longer lead his team in prayer. However, he rescinded the resignation a week later, saying he'd rather fight than walk away. (Star-Ledger Report). Ron Kuby of "Curtis & Kuby" said it best just after 8 this morning on WABC: "As long as there are tests in school, there will be prayer in school." Amen, Ron! And that goes DOUBLE for sports! As long as there are two opposing teams, each will be trying to pray the other down to defeat.
Meantime, Michelle Malkin joins other conservatives in voicing concern over something that's been going on for years in California, where schoolkids are being "taught" Islam... blogging from Los Angeles, Lores Rizkalla types: "The University of California is being sued for 'viewpoint discrimination' and unfair admission standards that violate the free speech and religious rights of evangelical Christians. The New York Times reports about the suit that is set to begin on December 12..." Be sure to read the rest of Lores' post [hErE].
