Haleigh Poutre

Another sad case of child abuse: On the heels of Nixzmary Brown, the story of 11-year old Haleigh Poutre (HAY'-lee POOT'-Rah) is making headlines across America. Adults cannot always see or feel the hell some children go through. If you decide to become or have decided to become, or already are a parent, please do your part and take care of the young human life the Creator has entrusted to you. And if you agree to care for a child who has no others, take that child into your heart as if he or she were your very own.

As I was finishing the draft of this post, I noticed Michelle Malkin (always on the cutting edge) had blogged about this last evening. See BLOGGING FOR HALEIGH. I didn't agree with those who were intent on keeping Terri Schiavo alive. She'd been comatose way too long. There's hope for Haleigh. God reserves final decision.

"...Doctors have said the girl, whose body was covered with burns, cuts and bruises with her teeth broken when she was admitted to hospital, would die within a few days once life support is removed..."

On Children

Your children are not your children.
They are the sons and daughters of Life's longing for itself.
They come through you but not from you,
And though they are with you yet they belong not to you.

You may give them your love but not your thoughts,
For they have their own thoughts.

You may house their bodies but not their souls,
For their souls dwell in the house of tomorrow,
which you cannot visit, not even in you dreams.
You may strive to be like them,
but seek not to make them like you.
For life goes not backward not tarries with yesterday.

You are the bows from which your children
as living arrows are sent forth.
The archer sees the mark upon the path of the infinite,
and He bends you with His might
that His arrows may go swift and far.
Let our bending in the archer's hand be for gladness;
For even as He loves the arrow that flies,
so He loves also the bow that is stable.
