An end to 4 decades of ETA violence in Spain

Important News from Europe: The Basque militant group ETA has ended a long campaign of terror, announcing a permanent cease-fire Wednesday that closes the book on one of Western Europe's last armed separatist movements. WaPo has details.

Like the IRA in Northern Ireland, ETA has learned a hard lesson: that playing at democracy works, and that it takes a lot of violence to unseat an established state... (more from the Highway Scribe)

blogNOTES:

Kudos to New York City blogger LINDSAY ROBERTSON: the author of lindsayism.com blogs: "For the next few weeks, all the stuff that is usually here will be at Janemag.com instead, where I'm the guest blogger for the month of April (which, in magazineland, starts now!) So go here instead. "

"Tammy NYP" remains at the top of the list of items most searched for here on the Capital Region People weBlog.

Check this out on Denny's Our Tomorrow, "There will be no pull out (of Iraq) as long as we continue to believe we can drive and consume our way to happiness."

Michelle Malkin moves us with a lesson on gratitude: if you don't look at another blog today, be sure to read "TALK ABOUT UNGRATEFUL."

24 Steps to Liberty watches the inaugural session of the new Iraqi Parliament and gives a vivid and personal account of the proceedings. He describes the event in a way television never can.

Michelle Malkin also posts about African Americans VS. Peta in "WHEN LEFTISTS ATTACK...EACH OTHER!" which features a bit of VIDEO as well! I got quite the chuckle out of this post!

Mike from Albany uses his blog to pick a bone with FOX and Sean Hannity...
