Lord of the Starfields
"On Friday, Uncover a Secret that could Change the Course of Mankind..." (pictured: Jesus standing before a Stargate?)Ah, the brouhahha surrounding a movie! It's not the first time a motion picture has sent shockwaves across the entertainment world, and it won't be the last. With all the fuss over The Da Vinci Code, are people actually going to see it? Yes, I am! Like so many other motion pictures, it is a combination of truth, legend and myth. It reminds me of the TV series, Stargate SG1. Elements of history, things we've known combined with things we've heard topped off with a twist of fiction and of course a big "What If?"
You may have heard it said "If God did not exist it would have been necessary to invent Him." The labels "coincidence" "fate" and "the Universe" are interchnageable with the moniker "God." Even the US government at one point in time decided "In God We Trust." I have two old US dollar bills (they were then known as 'Silver Certificates' because they were backed by REAL metal!), one bears the inscription "In God We Trust" and one does not. It is said that the leaders of teh Nation decided it might be best to keep reminding citizens that there is a God.
Religion, worship, the acknowledgement down through the ages and civilizations that indeed there is something out there Greater than us! We want to live forever. We know that's impossible. We cope with mortality via belief in an afterlife. The great Egyptian, Greek and Roman gods of Ancient times, the Great Spirit of North America, the hindu gods, God, Allah. Could they all be different names for the same entity? The millenia of prayer, passion, customs and rituals humanity has directed toward and applied to the deity (deities) may have reached the same single final destination.
Let's face it: most of the "Jesus stuff" that you know comes from an overedited, condensed Bible that has suffered through many many translations and interpretations. Like Stargate, The Code simply explores other options, avenues of what could be, what might have been... etc.
Christian groups in Thailand (where the movie opens Thursday) want government censors to cut the final 15 minutes from The Da Vinci Code. The coalition demands censor board officials fix subtitles they say disrespect Jesus and they want screen messages to appear before and after the movie saying the content is fictional. Humph! Tell me, What part about the word novel, doesn’t anyone get?

Hello all,
It is quite a joke that the Vatican and Catholic Church have the gall to accuse the author of a novel of attacking their fantasies and dogma. Remember that this is the same organization that manufactured fake relics and miracles for many centuries. This is the same group that massacred and tortured people for seeking the truth and having a mind of their own. This is the same group of deluded deceivers that makes more noise about a fictional book and movie than about child raping priests, aids, famine, or even the Holocaust! At what point does the Vatican's behavior go from the absurd to simply purely evil?
It is undeniable that the New Testament is framed by symbolism and allegory. The very same is evidenced in the Dead Sea Scrolls, Gnostic texts, biblical apocrypha, and other related texts. All ancient religious, mystical, and wisdom texts have been shrouded in mystery for millennia for one primary reason: The ability to understand their widely evidenced symbology was lost in antiquity. How do we finally solve these ages-old mysteries? To recast an often-used political adage: It’s [the] symbology, stupid!
It's amazing the Vatican still tries to insist the Gospels are literal truth. It is beyond obvious they are replete with ancient Hebrew symbology. Every miracle purported for Jesus has multiple direct symbolic parallels in the Old Testament, Apocalypse, Dead Sea Scrolls, and other symbolic narratives and traditions.
Likewise, the following Washington Post article ( The Book of Bart) demonstrates how many changes and embellishments were made to these texts over the centuries, unequivocally demonstrating they are not original, infallible, or truthful.
What then is the purpose of "faith" but to keep good people from seeking to understand truth and wisdom? It's no wonder the Vatican fears the truth more than anything else. Now comes justice, hot on its heels... (symbolism...)

The Jerusalem Perspective is a serious, scholarly group, whose scholars include Christians, Jews, and others. They point out that there are many significant inaccuracies in Brown's book. Of course, his book is just fiction, with no more factual basis than Stargate. It would not matter, except that the author chose to portray real organizations and claims a foundation in fact.
For example, in the novel, the surviving members of Jesus's family have been protected for centuries by an altruistic secret organization, the Priory of Sion, which is locked in combat with a sinister, violent Catholic group, Opus Dei. Opus Dei is a real-life Catholic lay order. At the beginning of the novel, Brown makes statements like: "The Priory of Sion - a European secret society founded in 1099 - is a real organization."
The real Priory of Sion is the modern invention of Pierre Plantard, a peculiar Frenchman with royalist and anti-Semitic views. It dates to the year 1956, not 1099, and is intended to purify France from the evil influences of modernity - and of Judaism. The medieval monastic order from which Plantard took the name had ceased to exist in the 14th century.
Anyone who visits my site will find that I spend far more time concerned about anti-Semitism than a multi-million seller which is being made into the biggest summer blockbuster is being suppressed.
By the way, I have not heard the Vatican attacking the author with anything near the vitriol of those attacking the Vatican.
It is worth thinking about.

Could it be because the author does not have a centuries-long record of verifiable deception and abominable evil? Is the author harboring child rapists while insisting that we MUST trust in their obvious deceptions or else? Is the author hording amazing wealth while billions struggle and suffer? Break out the scales of truth and justice and present an accurate measurement of the facts.
If the Bible represented the literal truth and accurate history, there would be no need for faith in the assertions of deceptive and duplicitous clergy and their ilk.
This calls for discernment and a clear memory about verifiable evil.
The time has arrived to call for long overdue justice for obvious deceivers who cause widespread suffering by spreading lies designed to divide us into opposing groups. These people are primary sources of war and destruction.
Get a clue!
