Amanda Congdon's departure from Rocketboom is the hottest topic among bloggers this weekend. Podcasting News blogs "Rocketboom executive producer Andrew Baron has tapped former MTV Europe VJ Joanna Colan (pictured) to take the anchor chair vacated by Amanda Congdon earlier this week," ... Colan, formerly the music/DJ curator at Table 50, will reportedly begin on Monday, July 10th, when Rocketboom is scheduled to go live again.Meantime, Baron showed up last night in Canada at the second CaseCamp, where he was the last speaker of the evening. Podnomics' Leesa Barnes was there and offered this summation: "...he summed up what happened between him and Amanda. I think it was a therapy session, to be honest. He didn't paint her in a bad light, on the contrary, he took responsibility for what happened and said it was like a marriage that had gone downhill." Joey deVilla was there too, preserved Baron's remarks and posted the video on YouTube.
I hate it when people attack bloggers. It happens to both small and large, well-known and obscure. For those among you who take a certain amount of pride in your blog (sorta like a guy who loves and cares for his car above all else) an attack on your blog can be quite disheartening and devastating. Whatever you do and whoever in life, there will always be enemies out there... people who attack you oneday without apparent provocation.
People touched by the attack without apparent provocation on little Xctasy Garcia have donated more than $18,690 to a trust fund set up for the 4-year-old abuse victim. The Times Union reports gifts have been coming steadily since Schenectady County officials set up a bank account June 15 to accommodate the outpouring of public interest in donating toys and money to the youngster.
I think one of the first things "they" should do is change the poor kid's name. Think of this: if you were Rush Limbaugh, would you name one of your kids OxyContin?
Speaking of kids, Governor Pataki has signed legislation mandating the listing of Level 2 sex offenders on the NY State Department of Criminal Justice Services Web site. Until now, only Level 3 (baddest of the bad) had to be listed.
July has turned out to be quite a month for one Albany hilltown guy! Donald Kawczak of Feura Bush was driving a flatbed truck along a county road Friday afternoon, when out of nowhere, an out-of-control motorcycle crosses the center line and slams into his truck, killing the motorcyclist, 27-yr old Justin Silvo.
Here's the bizaare twist: sources familiar with the case say that earlier this month, Kawczaks wife Darlene was charged with DWI after HER vehicle drifted, striking and killing a bicyclist along a rural stretch of Route 32 in Bethlehem. Now that's heavy!
I'm planning to go to the movies tonight, but I'm wondering if I should try to take in a matinee instead... it seems "Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest" is attracting hordes. I've followed Johnny Depp's career since "21 Jump Street," and he's made only ONE picture I didn't care for: "fear and Loathing in Las Vegas," or whatever the darn title was.
