Hand Over the Remote, George... Tony?
So, a 48-hour cease-fire effectively puts the Israel-Lebanon Conflict in the "Pause" mode. Well, actually, the Israelis are using that little "STEP" button to advance a "frame at a time." It's almost as if the mainstream media is telling us "War is Entertainment." Don't know about you, but I'm sick of hearing about 4 Americans being killed by a car-bomb in Iraq every morning and evening newscast. Some (like NY Times columnist Frank Rich) suggest the flare-up in the Middle East gets rid of that sinking yucky feeling we get when we see or hear news of the War in Iraq, that it gives the news a bit of freshness and could maybe grow legs and keep going... No one in Lebanon is happy about what's happened there. At least the citizens are getting a little breathing room along with a warning or two! The country has been brought to its knees: this is like the US finding out Osama Bin Laden is hiding out in Montreal so we carpet-bomb Quebec province to make sure we get him. A few civilian casualties? Bah! All for the greater good!HOMEpage | QuickTrackback | Simpletracks | Digg | SlashDot | boingboing |Rojo Tag: war | Technorati Tags: Frank Rich, The Peculiar Disappearance of the War in Iraq, NY Times
July 30, 2006. At least 54 civilians died in Qana, most of them are children. The death toll rose to approximately 750 civilians in a result of the continuous Israeli aggression on Lebanon. More than 800,000 displaced, 200,000 have left the country, 3 airports bombed, 62 bridges distroyed, 5,000 homes damaged.
Call for an immediate cease fire to stop the Israeli massacres against Lebanese civilians.
